Captain Wade F. Wilkenson passed away Febuary 4th 2011. Captain Wade Wilkenson, 47, was the commander of the Norfolk-based Destroyer Squadron 28.

He had been in that position since February of 2009. CAPT Wilkenson was a Kansas native and a 1986 NROTC graduate of Northwestern University. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School and had been in the Navy for 25 years. He deployed overseas numerous times, including in support of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He commanded the USS The Sullivans (DDG-68), and had served as special assistant to Admiral James Stavridis, Commander, US Southern Command in Miami. He is survived by his wife and children.
